London is probably the most fun cities to visit, filled with magnificent architecture and steeped in the history. The city is the vibrant and the buzzing with life so you can't help but get caught up inside wonderful atmosphere of this magnificent place.
It holds true to say that there are something for everyone and one thing for sure is you won't get opportunity to be bored. Many of the city's attractions are for free which enable it to be visited on foot and also long as you and have some comfortable footwear.
Here are 50 of the top places to go to, although I could go on and on. I have not listed them in a specific order as all of us have such different tastes. If there's anywhere unlisted you are thinking about let me know and I'll find out if I can find some more information in your case.
Transport:
1. St. Pauls Cathedral situated in the Diocese of London attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. It was developed by Architect Christopher Wren and built between 1665 and 1670. It is described as a 'House of prayer for those people of most nations. It is to guard against injustice and public expression to hope for any better society' Martin Luther King collected his Nobel Prize throughout 1964. Royal weddings and state funerals are also held here.
4. Houses of Parliament - next door to Big Ben you are able to walk throughout the Houses of Parliament or take the state run guided tour.
5. Buckingham Palace - official London residence of Queen Elizabeth II. The palaces open the doors to the visitors once 12 months.
6. The Natural History Museum - you can spend hours wondering around this superb museum. The huge dinosaur within the main entrance is a real hit with all the kids, as they are the enormous T-Rex inside the dinosaur exhibition. Admission costs nothing.
7. Westminster Abbey - if you'd prefer history you will not likely be disappointed whenever you visit this fascination building. Over 1000 years old it's been the coronation church since 1066 which is the final resting area for 17 monarchs.
9. The V& A (Victoria and Albert) Museum - described as our planet's greatest museum of Art and Design. It's definitely worth an appearance in case you think it will not be your thing. Admission free (close to the above museums).
10. Tower of London - Almost next door to the Tower Bridge, you may get a good view through the bridge down on top of the 900 year old fortress built by William the Conqueror. You will understand the infamous Beefeater's dressed in their red uniforms guarding the tower. Every English school child pays a trip towards the tower at least during their school years. Her is the majesty's crown jewels that theire kept here and worthy of an appearance, amongst every one of the other exciting what to view.
11. The National Gallery - Houses one with the world's greatest exhibitions of Western European art. Admission costs nothing.
12. The Tate Modern - Sister museum to Tate Britain, but located about the South with the river. If you like something more contemporary then this is where in your case. Admission is free of charge.
13. The Tate Britain - Gallery - a wonderful gallery with a lot of fascinating art and photography exhibitions. Admission is provided for free.
14. London Planetarium - Just beside to Madame Tussauds could be the London Planetarium. Get a real feeling for that night sky. Both are near to Baker Street (home of Sherlock Holmes) and exquisite Regents Park.
15. The British Museum - Arts and Artefacts from British history. Admission is provided for free.
